Does Permanent Makeup Tattooing Hurt?

Pain tolerance is different for everyone. Primary and secondary numbing agents are used as a topical anesthetic for your comfort. Most clients experience little to no pair during treatment. Be aware that those who receive PMU during their menstrual cycle can experience more tenderness during treatment.

How Long Will My Treatment Take?

Treatment time varies from service to service. At a minimum, a touchup service can take 1-2 hours. Most treatments require multiple sessions spread out over 6-8 weeks. For questions regarding a specific treatment or service, please call us!

What Is The Healing Time Of Permanent Make Up Procedures?

Healing times vary between person and procedure and can be discussed during a consultation or at the time of your PMU appointment. However, general healing times are around 7-14 days. Aftercare instructions will be given at time of appointment.

Will My Eyebrows Look Fake?

Absolutely not! Semi-permanent makeup is applied under the dermal layer of the skin, making it look less like a tattoo and more like it’s on the surface. In fact, semi-permanent eyebrow pigmentation is known to look more natural than your topical, daily applied brow tint. Combined with my artistry, we will have you looking naturally beautiful!

Will My Face Hurt After Treatments?

You can expect the treatment area to feel mildly sore and tender for two or three days following your treatment. If you are having significant pain, seek out a doctor and reach out to me, as you should only experience mild, tender soreness.

Are There Any Side Effects During Or After The Procedure?

You may or may not experience temporary side effects; this varies from person to person. A common side effect is minor bleeding during the procedure. A more rare side effect is bruising. You can also expect to feel tender for a few days. All of these side effects are temporary and not dangerous. Please ask me before your procedure if you have concerns.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

An initial treatment and one “perfecting” or touch-up appointment is included in the cost of all PMU services. In some cases a third session will be required. Any third session is not included in service price and will be an additional cost.

How Long Can I expect Micro-bladed Brows To Last?

There is some variation as everyone’s skin heals and retains ink differently. Lighter shades will fader more quickly than darker, and failure to follow proper care instructions can contribute to shorter brow lifespan. It is difficult to predict with accuracy how your skin will respond to and retain the pigment, so it’s crucial not to skip the touchup!

As a general rule of thumb, semi-permanent pigment used in microblading can last 6-12 months, when a touchup is recommended. With proper care and touchups, permanent brows can last 1-3 years, and eyeliner 5-8 years.

How Often Will I Need A Touch Up?

The longevity of pigment remaining in the skin greatly depends on skin type, lifestyle and many other variables. Everyone is different in how frequent they will require touch ups. A color boost may be needed around 1-3 years.

What Is The Long Term Care Of Cosmetic Tattooing?

Applying a SPF daily is recommended, especially during the summer months as sun and any type of tanning will prematurely fade your cosmetic tattoo. Any type of exfoliant such as chemical peels, laser treatment, abrasive manual exfoliation and serums or moisturizers containing retinols, glycolic, salicylic or lactic acids (BHA’s and AHA’s) will also fade your cosmetic tattoos and should be avoided over the brow area.

Does The Application Hurt?

I take every precaution to make you as comfortable during the procedure as possible, and reports of pain vary from client to client. Some report no pain at all, while others report a little discomfort. We will apply a strong, topical anesthetic cream before starting to minimize any pain or discomfort.

Can I Get Tattooed If I’m On Accutane?

No. You must have discontinued Accutane for a minimum of 6 months to 1 year before you are eligible for cosmetic tattooing.

How Do I Know If I’m A Candidate For Permanent Makup?

A consultation is always a good idea before any permanent makeup procedure. Be sure to fill out the Permanent Makeup Qualifier at booking. It is required to disclose any medical treatment you are currently or recently under. Failure to disclose will immediately forfeit fee’s paid, touchups scheduled and may involve rescheduling or permanent removal from Beauty Studio Seven.

You are not a suitable candidate for cosmetic tattooing procedures:

  • If you are under the age of 18
  • If you are currently pregnant
  • If you have taken Accutane during the past 6 months to 1 year
  • If you have a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring
  • If you are currently undergoing chemotherapy

We require a doctors note clearance before performing any cosmetic tattooing procedures:

  • If you are a diabetic.
  • If you have epilepsy.
  • If you have a pacemaker or major heart problems.
  • If you are breastfeeding
  • If you have any heart conditions, uncontrolled high blood pressure, poor general health or currently have any illness that compromises the immune system.
  • If you have any skin irritations, Eczema or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.).
  • If you have any viral infections and/or diseases.

How Permanent Are Semi-Permanent Eyebrows?

Semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is often considered permanent because the color is injected into the upper dermal layer of skin, preventing it from being washed off. However, this is closer to the skin’s surface than traditional tattoos and will naturally fade over time. Semi-permanent eyebrows are expected to last between 18 and 30 months.

Is Your Equipment Safe?

Yes! We only use single use, disposable supplies. Our work space is safely disposed of and disinfected before and after each client. Beauty Studio Seven is licensed, insured and Blood Borne Pathogens Certified.

What Is Saline Tattoo Removal?

Saline tattoo removal involves tattooing a specialized saline solution over your existing tattoo. The solution lifts the existing pigment molecules from the skin by the process of osmosis. A scab will form, which further lifts the previously placed pigment.

Is Saline Permanent Makeup/Tattoo Removal Safe?

This removal technique is safe for all skin types. The salt/saline tattoo removal is safer and has fewer risks of hypo/hyper-pigmentation, blistering, and scarring than laser removal treatments. The skin may be re-tattooed once the area has sufficiently healed. Saline removal is not suitable for medium-large tattoos. A consultation is recommended before booking.

Can You Microblade or Tattoo Over An Existing Tattoo?

The short answer is yes-but. While microblading, liner, and powder brows can be done over existing tattoos, hair strokes may not look natural over them. I do offer tattoo removal and there are options to fade old tattoos prior to treatment. Please contact me and have photos ready to discuss your situation.

Is Henna Brow Tint Safe?

Yes. It’s often suggested as an alternative if you want to avoid chemical hair dyes.

What Is The Difference Between Henna Brow Tint And Regular Brow Tint?

Henna tint not only colors the hair, but it also stains the skin. It penetrates the hair follicle differently; making the tint on the hair last longer than regular tint (about six weeks vs four weeks with regular eyebrow tint).

How Long Does Henna Brow Tint Last?

Depending on skin type, skincare and lifestyle henna can last up to 7 days on the skin and 6 weeks on brow hair.

What Is a Lash Lift?

A Lash Lift is a permanent lift for your lashes. Think lash curler results, without the eyelash curler. Curled lashes last 6-12 weeks.

How Do I Prep For a Lash Lift Treatment?

  • Arrive without ANY eye makeup on – think squeaky clean lashes.
  • Have your contacts removed if applicable.
  • Discontinue use of eyelash growth serum at least 24 hours prior to your appt.
  • Discontinue use of waterproof mascara WEEKS before- that stuff never comes off!

Does The Lash Lift Procedure Hurt?

No, the procedure is painless. You will have your eyes closed for the entire treatment (approximately one hour).

How Long Will a Lash Lift Last?

Lash lifts can last up to 6-12 weeks. Results vary from person to person. A lash lift “After Care & Expectations” sheet will be given at time of appointment.

Can I Wear Mascara After My Lash Lift?

Yes, only Elleebana Elleevate Keratin Mascara may be worn immediately AFTER a lash lift. Resume all other mascara and eye makeup 24 hours post lift.

I Have Glaucoma, Can I Have A Lash Lift Procedure?

Yes! If ever in doubt always consult with your physician.

I’ve Recently Had Lasik Surgery, Can I Have a Lash Lift Procedure?

Yes, but you need to wait at least 6 months. As always, when in doubt, please consult with your physician.

Who Is This a Lash Lift Procedure Not Good For?

When in doubt, always consult with your physician.
